Vitamin D deficiency as a factor for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease: an updated meta-analysis based on previous surveys.
In Nov 2019 seven scientists from the Department of Neurology, Gansu Provincial People’s Hospital, China published a paper analysing 16 previous studies of Vitamin D deficiency..
The data from the studies provided additional evidence of the relationships between vitamin D deficiency and risk of dementia and AD in older age people, finding significant positive associations between vitamin D deficiency and risk of dementia and AD.
Subgroup analysis indicated that the risk of dementia and AD was reduced with increased vitamin D.
We have previously published an article outlining one such study as to how levels of sunlight and population daylight activities affect Vitamin D levels. This new paper incorporates a number of trials/surveys and uses statistical analysis to compile a ‘meta’ analysis.
