It’s been a year since I previously took this test; it takes 15 minutes and as well as testing your memory it also asks questions about life style, vitamin intake, bad and good habits etc. It is free and the data is collected to build a picture of behaviours that hopefully minimises the chance of developing Dementia. When it gives results it also makes suggestions for changes to diet etc.
My results were good, well above average, and a lot better than last year. I’m putting a lot of this down to the supplements I have been taking, some of the improvement is down to familiarity, but i suppose this is all part of the test.
I need to cut down on Coffee, drink more Tea instead, especially Green Tea. I also need to go to town on vegetables. My wife has always been keen to ensure that we have a balanced diet, which is great. Remember, balanced doesn’t mean expensive. In fact a balanced diet should cost a lot less when some of the luxury food, convenience items , which are bad for you, are cut out.
The questioning during the test focused on Vitamin intake, reinforcing my view that Vitamins (natural or supplements) hold the key to delaying or preventing development of Dementia. It is a focus of the test.
One Vitamin , B6, was of particular interest during the test. Amongst other effects B6 reduces blood levels of homocysteine. High homocysteine levels are linked to increased chances of developing Dementia.
